I’m enjoying the series, full of Miami flair and Voodoo magic. Entertaining and enlightening. I’ll finish the three book series that I purchased, but not sure if i’ll continue on.

Read all 3. Just not as a boxed set. One problem! We need a few more books by Mr. Finn, like yesterday!
Fantastic box set!! Lots of action and plenty of twists. Loved all three!

I've read the books individually and they're all great reads. Buy it this way and save some $$.
I read these 3 books individually, and loved them all. The Book 1 (Deadman) introduces us to Cisco (a Necromancer/shadow charmer and black magic outlaw) who talks directly to the reader, while he tries to figure out what happened to him. There is definitely someone after Cisco, and he has limited friends. This book will keep you guessing and you will need to keep track of what's going on, because you have an education in the dark arts coming your way.
Next Book 2 (Shadow Play) continues with our interesting but smart mouthed main character Cisco who yet again pulls us into the next part of his adventure, telling us some new items he has figured out, on what happened to make him a Deadman (in the first book), and further our education into the dark arts. It's all about getting sweet revenge, Cisco is again kept on his toes as his enemies try to bring him down. What a great path of destruction Cisco leaves, and a fantastic twist in the story.
And Finally Book 3 (HeartStrings) where Cisco get sliced and diced yet again, he is turning into a Shish kebab for sure, but he has to cut through all the dark deception and figure out who did this or is behind it. The pile of enemies is mounting, and so is the body count. Can he get a break this time or is he going to be cursed even more? I definitely want to stay on this roller coaster ride, It was good to get some of the questions answered, and there is certainly more to discover about this magical world.
While I did not buy the Boxed Set, I did buy all three of the books in the set. I can say without hesitation, I wish I HAD bought the boxed set. When I bought the first book, I had never read any of Mr Finn's work and I was, yes, a little cheap. Foolish move on my part. If you buy one, you will buy all three, believe me, so spring for eh set. You will save money and time.

The characters are well defined, and not everyone is likable -- just like in real life. Unlike real life, there is magic here. The magic system is unique and, most importantly to me, internally consistent. The plot is well-conceived and well executed as is the world Cisco inhabits. The characters act on their own, in their own interests, with their own motives. This is not a series where everyone knows about and is used to seeing monsters and magic. This keeps things interesting as Cisco must fly under the radar all the time.

I thoroughly enjoyed all three books in the series and Mr Finn has a new fan! I eagerly await his next novel.
